Indra Systems, Inc., was awarded the H-60 FAST (Fleet
Aircrew Simulator Training) upgrade program
on August 10, 2006. The program involves upgrades
to US Navy SH-60B, HH/SH-60H/F and MH-60S
operational flight trainers, weapons system
trainers and weapons tactics trainers.
The Fleet Aircrew Simulator
Training (FAST) initiative is a part of
NASMP (Navy Aviation Simulator Master Plan)
that provides for legacy trainers to receive
upgrades in order to address fleet training
requirements more appropriately. The goal
of FAST is to supply the fleet with tactically
relevant, high-fidelity training devices
with a high level of interoperability.
The primary purpose of
these training devices is to instruct Naval
Pilots and Airborne Tactical Officers (ATOs),
in attaining the flight and tactical skills
for full mission employment of the H-60
weapon system.
H-60 missions include Undersea
Warfare (USW), Anti-Surface Warfare (SUW),
Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW), Search and
Rescue (SAR), Vertical Replenishment (VERTREP),
Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC), and Naval
Gunfire Support (NGFS). In addition, the
H-60 may serve as a forward sensor platform
for RADAR and Electronic Support Measures
(ESM), as well as a Communications Relay
(COMREL) platform.
