Indra to Host Military Hero and World Record-Holder Joe Kittinger at I/ITSEC 2011

ORLANDO (Nov. 18, 2011) – Indra, a world leader in simulation and training, will host a book signing and appearance featuring aviation legend Col. Joseph “Joe” Kittinger during the upcoming Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) at the Orange County Convention Center.

Conference attendees will have an opportunity to meet Kittinger, a National Aviation Hall-of-Famer, on Wednesday, Nov. 30, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Indra’s Booth 881.

Kittinger is a war hero and military aviation legend who holds several world records, including one for the highest, fastest and longest skydive -- from 102,800 feet, at 614 mph -- and for being the first person to cross the Atlantic solo in a helium balloon. The gondolas, or capsules, used in Kittinger’s famous ManHigh, Excelsior and Stargazer missions are on display at the National Museum of the Air Force in Dayton, Ohio.

A career Air Force officer, Kittinger served three tours of duty in Vietnam before he was shot down and became a prisoner of war for 11 months at the infamous “Hanoi Hilton.” He is known internationally as a famous barnstormer and sky writer.

“Indra is proud to host Joe Kittinger, a true hero and aviation legend,” Indra CEO David Fedor said. “We share his passion for innovation and setting the bar when it comes to pilot safety.”

Indra is giving away free copies of Kittinger’s exciting autobiography, "Come Up and Get Me", to the first 100 people who stop by the booth during Kittinger’s appearance. The critically acclaimed book won second place for autobiography in the Book of the Year awards.
